High in the rugged mountains of Papua New Guinea, Simbu Province sits at the heart of the country’s most respected coffee-growing region. Tucked into steep valleys and rolling highlands, Simbu’s smallholder farms thrive at elevations between 4,500 and 6,000 feet, where rich volcanic soil, heavy rainfall, and cool mountain air create ideal conditions for slow cherry development. Most coffee here is grown by village families on small plots, handpicked and carefully processed, often using traditional wet methods.

Papua New Guinea coffee is known for its bold yet balanced profile. In the cup, you’ll often find bright citrus acidity layered with notes of cocoa, brown sugar, and tropical fruit. Many lots from Simbu also carry a subtle earthy depth and spice character, paired with a full body and a clean, lingering finish. The result is a coffee that feels both vibrant and grounded—wildly expressive of its mountainous origin while remaining approachable and deeply satisfying.
